Lend a Hand, Share the Warmth
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Thanksgiving in Harlem, carrying the spirit of our very first block-party meal into coat-sorting rooms, pop-up holiday kitchens, and street-corner outreach drives from New York to the West Coast. When you give your time, you help transform donated coats into dignity-restoring gear, greet guests with a hot plate, and deliver care kits to neighbors who can’t reach us on their own.
Ready to roll up your sleeves?
Roles range from behind-the-scenes logistics (sorting, tagging, and packing winter items) to front-line service (distributing gear, serving meals, or joining Mobile Care Teams that bring warmth directly to shelters and encampments). No special skills are required—just empathy, reliability, and a willingness to work alongside people of every background. We provide on-site orientation, all necessary supplies, and a strong sense of community spirit, so you’ll leave not only knowing you made a tangible impact but also feeling part of a nationwide family rooted in Harlem’s enduring tradition of looking out for one another.
Fill out the quick form below and we’ll match you with tasks that require your skills the most. One coat sorted, one meal served, one conversation shared—each act of service carries Harlem’s heart a little farther.
